This is Sweden’s first publication commemorating their considerable Baltic maritime trading history. It represents a growing awareness of the importance of their historic fleet, and the need to conserve it for future generations. This book features introductions and historical details by Djerf, Malmborg, Berg and others, and describes in detail the 58 classic vessels operating at that time. Tärnan (now La Bohème) is featured on the book’s cover, and described on pp 143-144.

Anders Berg, Honorary President of the EMH Cultural Council, details 14 years of work to preserve European heritage fleets and traditions, from the 1st Common European Maritime Heritage Congress in Amsterdam in 1992 to the book’s preparation in 2006. A new section covers the growth of Sweden’s sail training programs for youth and schools. The book details 68 of Sweden’s classic sailing vessels, reflecting healthy growth in the heritage fleet, with 22 of them based in Stockholm. Tärnan (now La Bohème) is described on pp 227 – 231.
